Working entirely within the Upper West Region of Ghana, RAAP works in partnership with international development agencies, government, communities, and civil society groups. RAAP’s greatest strength is its sustainable approach; empowering rural people to organize and educate one another on development issues facing their communities, so that they can decide how best to take action. All our activities concentrate in specific areas and communities, targeting marginalized groups, including self-help women groups and their families.
RAAP believes that the most important step in development is to secure, improve, and sustain the livelihoods of resource-poor people by increasing their capacities and skills to influence policies and practices that affect them. When community members willingly involve themselves in a wide range of development activities, they become both agents and beneficiaries of development. It is this participation that is important; and RAAP believes it is needed both as a goal and as a tool of development. For more information please visit RAAP’s Approach/Methodology [LINK].
