 Education

RAAP’s Education Programme is helping ensure that people can stay informed  and take matters into their own hands.

We believe education is the key to development. It brings about a holistic development of the human person and opens up unlimited opportunities for individuals and societies. It is a right which must be provided for every child. That is why RAAP strives to ensure sustainable, quality, basic education for all and encourage active community participation in school management.  Additionally, informal adult education serves a crucial role in improving rural people's livelihoods.

The work of our education programme deals with awareness creation, campaigning and advocacy and community empowerment for the provision of quality basic education, and adult literacy. RAAP focuses on building the capacity of local people, with a comprehensive set of objectives. They are the following:

*      To contribute to the enrollment and retention of all children of school going age

*      To stimulate and enhance the capacity of communities to take active role in school management

*      To create awareness and generate community interest in current educational polices

*      To assist communities and other educational stakeholders to mobilize educational resources for quality basic education.

RAAP’s approach to education is to empower community groups such as Parents Teachers Associations and School Management Committees to actively engage with educational stakeholders and take action on their own.  We undertake community animation on educational issues, such as girl child education, and work to strengthen the capacity of community facilitators to work independently.
